Achieving Our 2030 Moonshot Goal
Literacy is the foundation for success in every subject and beyond the classroom. That’s why OPS has set an ambitious goal: every student reading on grade level by 2030.
I’m committed to keeping the district focused on this goal through evidence based literacy instruction, strong support for educators, and clear measures of student progress. With more than 52,000 students across OPS, reaching this goal requires a unified effort and consistent leadership to see it through.
“Every child, regardless of their school, neighborhood, or zip code, deserves the opportunity to become a strong, confident reader. I’m committed to helping turn our Moonshot from an ambitious goal into a reality.” – Dr. Shavonna Holman

Defending our Public Schools & Resources
Strong public schools require strong and reliable investment. I will continue advocating for fair funding for OPS and opposing efforts that divert resources away from the students, educators, and schools that depend on them.
I believe public dollars should strengthen public schools and ensure every OPS student has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.
“I will continue standing up for OPS, protecting the resources that belong in our classrooms, and making sure the voices of Omaha’s students, families, and educators are heard when decisions about our public schools are being made.” – Dr. Shavonna Holman

Safe Schools
Every student and educator deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported at school. I believe school safety must protect students while preserving their dignity and maintaining environments where learning can thrive.
I will continue to listen to families, educators, students, and experts while supporting responsible, evidence-based approaches to school safety, student behavior, and crisis response.
“I will continue working for schools where safety, accountability, and respect go hand in hand because our students and educators deserve nothing less.” – Dr. Shavonna Holman
