My Record
9 Years of Leadership.
For nine years, I have had the privilege of serving Omaha Public Schools. During that time, our district has made significant investments in our schools, expanded opportunities for students, navigated major changes, and set an ambitious course for the future.
I’m proud to have worked alongside fellow Board members, educators, families, and community partners to help move OPS forward.
$61 Million+ Invested in Subdistrict 4 Schools
During my time on the OPS Board, more than $61 million has been invested in schools serving Subdistrict 4.
Those investments have helped improve learning environments, modernize facilities, address critical building needs, and ensure students and educators have schools equipped for the future.
Expanding College & Career Opportunities
I supported OPS’s expansion of College & Career Academies and Pathways, giving students more opportunities to connect classroom learning with their futures.
Through career-focused coursework, college credit, industry credentials and hands-on experiences, OPS students can graduate better prepared for college, careers and life after high school.
Standing Up for OPS
I have advocated at the state level for fair funding and policies that protect OPS students, educators, and public schools.
I will continue making sure Omaha’s students have a strong voice when decisions affecting public education are made.
Setting Our Sights on 2030
One of the most important decisions we have made is also about what comes next.
I supported establishing OPS’s ambitious 2030 Moonshot goal: every student reading on grade level by 2030. That commitment is now embedded in the district’s 2026–30 Strategic Plan and provides a clear, measurable focus for student achievement.
Setting the goal was only the beginning. The next four years are about delivering on it.
“Nine years of service have taught me that meaningful progress doesn’t happen overnight. It takes committed leadership, accountability, collaboration, and the determination to see the work through. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and I’m focused on the work still ahead.” – Dr. Shavonna Holman
